The International Monetary Fund (IMF) issued a recession warning for this year, with Managing Director Kirstalina Georgieva, saying, “We expect one third of the world economy to be in recession.” While the IMF did not include the U.S. in recession, she said that 2023 will be a "tougher" year than 2022 because “the three big economies, US, EU, China, are all slowing down simultaneously.” If the U.S. does end up in a recession, we will likely have much more than a third of the globe in a recession, as the U.S. makes up a huge part of global GDP.
